Northwest Guilford Viking Band

The competitive Northwest Guilford Viking Marching Band was created in 1975 with 32 students attending Northwest Junior and Senior High Schools.  
 
Now the band consistently marches 150+ members each year.  The Viking Marching Band begins practice in the summer with band camp typically taking place during the first two weeks in August.  The group performs at home football games, local and regional competitions and local Holiday parades.
 
This group consists entirely of volunteers who enjoy the excitement of music and performing together. They members rehearse completely after school two or three afternoons per week. The group begins their competition season on Saturdays at the end of September through the first Saturday of November.  
 
They travel in and out of state to competitions, in which they are very successful, receiving numerous awards and ratings.

Any marching member is invited to participate in a bi-annual trip which has consisted of New York City, Walt Disney World, Outback Bowl – Florida (2004 Grand Champions), Toronto Canada, Fiesta Bowl – Arizona (Grand Canyon), an Italy / Greece tour ,New Zealand / Australia tour, performance for 2018 Hollywood Christmas Parade as well as Disneyland, Germany / Italy / Austria / Paris tour, the 2021 80th Anniversary Pearl Harbor Concert Series in Honolulu, Hawaii, Disney World 2023 and the most recent performance for the New Year's Day Parade in Rome, Italy 2024 / 25.
